Balloon Race Quiz Scoring Method

Set out the 12 balloons in three rows of four
as above. Randomly hide one position or
penalty card under each balloon. As each
side answer questions correctly, they
choose a balloon and receive whatever
score or penalty is concealed beneath it.
Place the score cards in a vertical column
on each side to aid adding up. The winning
side is the one with the most points at the end.
Busy Bees quiz scoring method

Set up the board as above placing the
numbered hexagons randomly behind ten
of the flowers and the two bee keepers
behind the remaining two. As each side
gets a question right they pick a flower.
Put up the corresponding number of plain
yellow hexagons on the score board on
their side. If a bee keeper is chosen, that
team lose all the hexagons they have so
far gained! Where one or both bee keepers
are left until last, the game stops and the
winner is determined by counting up which
side has the most hexagons, otherwise,
the next team to answer automatically loses.

Cake Bake Quiz Scoring Method

Set up the title and the 12 squares on the board with one of the 12
ingredients hidden randomly behind each. Decide which side will make
which cake. As each side correctly answers a question, they choose
one of the 12 squares available. If it has hidden behind it an ingredient
they need, it is put up under their recipe card. If it is one they already
have, or if it is one needed by the other side, it is put back under the
square. The first side to gather all six ingredients is the winner.
Fraud Squad Quiz Scoring Method

Set up the 12 squares with one of the the 12 bank notes
behind each. As each side correctly answer a question
they choose a number between 1 and 12. Before the
square is removed they must decide whether to keep
the bank note or pass it to the other side. If they keep it,
it is put up on their side of the board. If they pass it, it is
put up on the opposite side. At the end of the quiz, add
up the positive numbers and take away the negative ones
(fake notes) to obtain a final score. An alternative way is
simply to pick a square and all keep whatever bank note
is under it. However, this method is less exciting.

Girls & Boys Team Names with rosettes in 4 colours

Use as a visual record of scores during a single quiz, placing a rosette up for each
point scored or as a tally of winning teams from week to week or day to day. Print
out as many rosettes of each colour as you need. There are 4 of each colour on
each sheet.
Globe Trotter Quiz Scoring Method

The globe is set up in the middle of the board
with space around them for the country names
and flags, as in the diagram above. The 12 flags
are hidden under the 12 pieces of the globe.
The 12 country names are divided between the
two sides. (You could play in three or four teams
dividing the countries up further.) Explain that
each side is trying to collect all the flags by visiting
the countries named on their side. As questions
are answered a rectangle is selected. To do this
they will say for example,
Iccle Family Wall Quiz

Print out all 20 pieces, on coloured paper
if you like. Put them up on the walls round
the room as people are arriving for an event.
Explain, using one of them as an example
(I usually use number 2, bicycle) that they are
trying to find out the names of all the
iccle family. They are called that because
they all end in the sound
Lions & Tigers Quiz Scoring Method

scored or as a tally of winning sides from week to week.

Motor Races Quiz Scoring Method

Set out the four races as above and hide
the 12 trophies under them at random. As
each side correctly answers their question,
they choose a race and a car in that race,
e.g.
Pairs Quiz Scoring Method

Set out the 24 tiles in four rows of six as above. Randomly
hide one animal under each tile. As each side answer
questions correctly, they choose a pair of tiles. If they
choose a pair, they choose again until they fail to get a pair.
The tiles are replaced over the animals if a pair is not
chosen. The chosen pairs are removed and put up on the
side of the team that chose them. The winning team is the
team with the most pairs at the end of the game. To make
it much harder, the tiles can be replaced even after
removing the pair of animals.
Shuttle Launch Quiz Scoring Method

Set up the pieces on the board as above with both sides
of the countdown board showing 10. (It is best to use
magnets to hold the pieces over the countdown board
as they are easier to change. blu-tac may be used but is
less convenient.) As each side correctly answers questions,
replace the number on their side with one less and so on
until
Snakes & Ladders Quiz Scoring Method

If you can, use a big dice. It is much more
fun! As each side get their question right,
let them throw the dice. The fastest possible
completion is in four throws. It has happened!
You can either have plenty of questions and
play to the end, or set a fixed number of
questions for each side and see who gets the
furthest in that number of questions. Both
ways work well. It is up to you whether you
pass questions over or not. The key is to be
consistent.

Two of a Kind Quiz Scoring Method

Set up the 12 numbered squares in three
rows of four and hide one of the 12 items
under each at random. As each side answer
questions correctly, they choose a square
and are awarded the item underneath it.
If they are the first to get that item, they
keep it and aim to collect the other one.
If the other side already have the other
one of the pair, it goes back under its
square. The winning side is the first one
to collect three or more pairs.

This scoring method is available as the
title and numbered squares with a choice
of four sets of pairs. It is illustrated here
using the animal pairs with the fruit,
insects and transport pairs shown below.
